Due to the forced quarantine that the coronavirus pandemic has caused worldwide, the entertainment industry has essentially been grounded to a halt; forcing actors to stay at home and production to stop.

But that's not stopping Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise from starring in his next film. Instead, he'll choose a different, more extreme location than the studios in Hollywood, California: one that's out-of-this-world. Literally.

On Monday, Deadline reported Cruise will be working with Elon Musk's SpaceX and NASA on a narrative feature film shot in space, specifically, the International Space Station.

"NASA is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the space station! We need more popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make NASA's ambitious plans a reality," NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine tweeted on Tuesday.

According to Deadline, the film is supposed to be an action-adventure, but it's reportedly not a sequel to the Mission Impossible series that Cruise has starred in. It is also unclear when production will begin and when or how Cruise will get to space to begin filming.

NASA and SpaceX were unable to be reached for comment.

All this comes in a busy time for Musk, who reported on Monday via Twitter that his son — who apparently goes by the name "X Æ A-12" — was born. The boy's mother is Musk's girlfriend, singer Grimes.

But aside from the personal news, Musk's aerospace company, SpaceX is also scheduled to perform a big milestone in the coming weeks.

For the first time since the space shuttle program retired in 2011, American astronauts will launch aboard SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule as part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program from Kennedy Space Center pad 39A.

The launch is scheduled to occur at 4:32 p.m. May 27.

Who knows, perhaps the astronauts scheduled to fly on Crew Dragon — Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley — will be onboard the space station to greet Cruise when he flies to begin filming.
