On September 19, 2025, following 5 CubeSats were successfully deployed from the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) "Kibo":
  • GHS-01 *1
  • DRAGONFLY *2
  • STARS-Me2 *1
  • RSP-03 *1
  • Atsushi Space Challenge *1

*1 Since May 2018, as a new step to enhance the commercial utilization of Kibo, JAXA selected Space BD Inc. and Mitsui Bussan Aerospace Co., Ltd. as the J-SSOD service provider.

*2 This CubeSat was deployed under the framework of the J-CUBE program, a CubeSat deployment opportunity established through an agreement between JAXA and the University Space Engineering Consortium (UNISEC).

  • Camera mission
    In response to commands from a ground station, a camera mounted on the satellite photographs the Earth from space and transmits the image data to the ground.
  • Digi Talker Mission
    Audio data stored on the satellite will be sent as an analog FM audio signal like a message from space.
    Interaction regarding the use of satellite radio waves with high schools in Japan and abroad using satellites.

【Mission】 In an age when people are increasingly connected to their smartphones, Entertainer Atsushi Tamura is launching this CubeSat as part of a television program project, inspired by his childhood dream and a wish to encourage everyone to look up at the sky together.
The ASC CubeSat includes metal plates and SD cards with the names and messages of those who donated to this effort through crowdfunding.
